In 1993 an Army veteran and entrepreneur, Charles Whiting, decided to sell his agricultural feed company in Lynchburg, Virginia, to Alfa-Laval in France. The process to sell the company was relatively involved, and the buyer was so impressed with Charles that they asked him to stay on post-sale to help the company realize its full potential. Employees, the new owners, and customers came together in partnership and the company grew significantly over the coming years.

Charles’s success with his own company soon attracted other business owners who started asking him for advice on how they could better position their companies for sale — ensuring that their companies not only fetched a good price but that their own employees, customers, and communities would be taken care of post-sale. From this spirit of one businessman helping another, a consulting business was born, and before long, Charles had executed over 140 transactions helping business owners across the country.

In 2018, Charles was volunteering for an SBA non-profit when he met another civic-minded business owner, Bruce Harrison. Bruce’s own business of advising high net worth families had grown to the point where he was ready to invest in helping grow other local businesses. What began as a search for investment opportunities, soon became a partnership dedicated to assisting businesses to maximize their value while also providing for their financial freedom and success.
