The sunlit shores of Virginia Beach set the stage for a vibrant and spirited celebration as the Virginia Diverse Chamber of Commerce hosted its First Inaugural Small Business Week Parade Walk.
Honorable Mayor Robert “Bobby” Dyer delivered a Welcome Address expressing heartfelt sentiments and words of encouragement to local small businesses, reinforcing his dedication to fostering inclusivity within the community.
The inclusive spirit that is felt throughout the state and beyond welcomed small businesses, large corporations, government agencies, and individuals who support small women and diverse-owned businesses to be part of these vibrant Parade Walk Celebrations held at various locations in the last week of July.
The event honored the Proclamation bestowed upon the chamber, designating it as Virginia Diverse Chamber of Commerce Business Week.
In Southwest Virginia, Roanoke, nestled amidst nature’s beauty of majestic mountains, towering trees, and buzzing insects, the spirit of community and entrepreneurship shone brightly. The picturesque landscapes served as a powerful reminder that obstacles are no match for determination and resilience.
Honorable Mayor Sherman Lea Sr. of the City of Roanoke shared a Welcome Address filled with genuine appreciation for the invaluable contributions that local diverse-owned businesses bring to the region, highlighting their significant impact on the community.
Richmond and Chester VA, steeped in history and charm, added a touch of elegance to the festivities. From outdoor activities to historic homes, the regions exuded a sense of timeless grace and heritage. At Carver Middle School, the scenic backdrop was not only visually stunning but also symbolically significant, reflecting the chamber’s mission of education and student leadership.
Delegate Rae Cousins of District 79 delivered a passionate Welcome Address in Chester, VA, emphasizing the critical importance and profound impact that small businesses of color have on enriching and empowering local communities.
Small businesses and large corporations, government agencies, and supportive individuals came out to celebrate, bringing their company banners, logos, signs, hats, and t-shirts, marching proudly to display their businesses along with their teams, staff, family, and friends. They walked together, honoring and promoting their companies, united in a shared vision of growth and success.
Concluding each event, a special Awards Ceremony, Women and Diverse Small Business Owners were recognized and honored by the Virginia Diverse Chamber of Commerce for their hard work and achievements.
