Virginia Diverse Chamber of Commerce and VASH Charities Partner with Lowes Home Improvement for a Successful 5th Annual National Roanoke Community Beautification Day

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and service, the Virginia Diverse Chamber of Commerce and VASH Charities, in collaboration with major sponsors including Lowes Home Improvement, Aetna Better Health of Virginia, Kroger Family of Foods, Sam’s Club, Food Lion, Carilion Clinic, and Republic Services, hosted the 5th Annual National Roanoke Community Beautification Day on July 27th, 2024, at Eureka Park in Roanoke, Virginia. The event attracted an impressive crowd of over 200 participants who came together to enhance four homes on Carroll Ave NW in Roanoke.
The presence of Police Chief Scott Booth and members of the Roanoke Police Department, including cadets, added an extra layer of support and security to the event. Their willingness to participate in the beautification activities demonstrated their commitment to serving and improving the community.
City of Roanoke Parks and Recreation contributes to making the event a success year after year by ensuring a smooth process.
Noteworthy contributions came from Nackley Landscaping LLC, with owner Andrew Nackley providing expert landscape designs and hands-on assistance throughout the day. This collaboration significantly contributed to the transformation of the homes and uplifted the overall aesthetic of the neighborhood.
The renowned Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Roanoke, provided hands-on help throughout the day. Their contributions helped transform the homes and uplift the overall aesthetic of the neighborhood.
Key members of the Virginia Diverse Chamber of Commerce including Michael Anderson Public Relations Officer, Eric Sparrow VP, Ambassador Committee, including Jemeka Robertson from Roanoke, Michelle Augustus from Virginia Beach, Yolanda Crenshaw from Portsmouth, and Ambassador Chair Kanya Ford from Richmond, were all present to show their support and dedication to the community.
The homeowners, who included seniors, a Pastor, and a military family, expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the love and hard work shown to their homes. Their eagerness and graciousness served as a reminder of the impact that small acts of kindness and community service can have on individuals and neighborhoods.
One of the most inspiring aspects of the day was the presence of youth volunteers who eagerly participated in the beautification activities.
