James Lewis

Government/Legislative Affairs

James Lewis brings more than a decade of experience in strategic planning, communications, and government affairs to the Leadership Advisory Board.

He is a former senior Congressional staffer to two Members of Congress and currently works on healthcare policy with a focus on seniors and medically-complex individuals.

James’ passion for Southwest Virginia was inspired through his work with the state’s Democratic party and his roles on the board of the LGBT+ Democrats of Virginia and as former president of the Virginia Young Democrats.

Under his presidency, he fostered the creation of several new chapters in the region.

James has served on the Advisory board of award-winning DyNAMC Leaders for a Changing World Magazine a global diversity-focused publication.

He currently lives in Alexandria, VA, and focuses locally on transportation and planning issues.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and International Relations from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
