Having served as a senior Congressional staffer to two Members of Congress, James has honed his expertise in healthcare policy, with a particular focus on seniors and medically-complex individuals. His dedication to improving healthcare outcomes for vulnerable populations highlights his commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need.

James’ passion for the state of Virginia was ignited through his work with the state’s Democratic party, where he played a pivotal role in advocating for progressive policies and initiatives. His leadership roles on the board of the LGBT+ Democrats of Virginia and as the former president of the Virginia Young Democrats underscore his dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the political sphere.

During his tenure as president of the Virginia Young Democrats, James spearheaded the establishment of several new chapters in the region, fostering growth and engagement among young Democrats in Virginia.

In addition to his political and advocacy work, James has contributed to the Advisory Board of the award-winning DyNAMC Leaders for a Changing World Magazine, a global diversity-focused publication. Currently, he serves as the Government/Legislative Affairs Liaison for the Virginia Diverse Chamber of Commerce, where he leverages his expertise to advocate for diverse businesses and entrepreneurs in the region.

Based in Alexandria, VA, James focuses locally on transportation and planning issues, working to improve infrastructure and create sustainable urban development strategies that benefit the community.

James holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and International Relations from the College of William and Mary, as well as a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His diverse educational background underscores his multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving and his ability to navigate complex issues with insight and expertise.
